Built in the middle of a small town of about 9000 inhabitants it is still developing as the final year classes in academic subjects only opened in September 2015 ; the range of classes preparing for the Baccalaureate is wide and diversified :
the L class focuses on Literature and Languages
the ES class focuses on Economics, History and Geography and Mathematics.
the S classes are centered on the study of Sciences, including Maths, Biology, Physics and Chemistry and even Engineering Science for half of the students in these classes.
the STI2D class specializes in Sustainable Development and Technology (with different options such as Computing, Construction and Mechanics)
the ST2S focuses on Health and Social Science
The social background of our students is varied, children from working class/tradesmen/agriculture backgrounds form a majority.
Our school is also a vocational secondary school with classes leading to the Vocational Bac (Baccalaureat professionnel) and enabling students to undertake internships in a company alongside the 2 or 3 year courses. The school teaches classes in Quantity Surveying, Intervention on Built Heritage and Masonry to prepare students for their degree and professional life.
In September 2013 the school also opened a post -baccalaureate technical degree in Quantity Surveying and in September 2015 a vocational degree in Building Information Modelling was established. Needless to say that this wide range of subjects and training classes makes Lycée Aimé Césaire very attractive both for teachers and students.
